Snoop was surrendered with Tip, who has left for rescue. He has longing eyes that wish for more. The shelter environment is hard on him and he shows signs of stress sitting in his kennel for long periods of time surrounded by other dogs and noise. He is an absolute sweetheart, especially away from the noise of the shelter. Snoop enjoys walks, runs, and cuddling and would love a home that will allow him to get his energy out. He has a special “Nemo” ear that makes him even more unique and we love him for it! On Snoop’s recent shelter day break, we learned the following: Snoop rides great in the car and didn’t get sick after being fed a few special treats. He did really well walking around Lowe’s full of people, but he marked a couple times inside the store. In parking lots, he barks at various cars driving by. Snoop waits very patiently for his treats, can catch EVERY treat thrown, and does not beg for human food. If you reach across him and into his space, he just licks your face :).

Scooby has the best smile and wagging tail when he’s waiting to go outside for the day. This strong boy takes treats gently and becomes a pile of mush for some chin scratches. He is eager to please and goofy as can be. He tested well with females and wanted to play. He respects space and takes correction well both from dogs and humans. He rides well in the car. He is currently attending obedience training and loves it, especially when he gets his reward.

Penelope and Pixie are new residents who were seized by Animal Control due to neglect and deplorable living conditions. The girls were in an enclosure together and are now being kenneled together. They are a bonded pair so must remain together. Penelope is sweet girl who is rightfully scared but has been very brave. Penelope is less timid than her sister Pixie and her personality is coming out more daily. Pixie is very timid and follows her sister Penelope everywhere; she’s her security blanket.

Boyo returned to us at no fault of his own. He was a resident at ACAS for many months before being rescued. That didn’t work out, so he is looking for his forever home. He has improved a lot while he was away. He walks well on leash, he LOVES to zoomie, even if it’s only for a couple feet while on a walk. He’s so silly and enjoys tug-of-war. It’s his favorite thing. He also leans in for pets once he trusts you a little bit. He would do best in a home without other pets or children.

Fidois friendly with female dogs so far and very friendly with humans. He loves to adventure even though he’s still unsure about walking on a leash. His leash stays loose the entire walk. He doesn’t react to other dogs while on leash. He is still learning how to be a dog and seems like he will pick it up quickly!

Frannie is a calm and sweet mama who takes great care of her baby boy, Fox. She enjoys soft pets and takes treats very gently. She is still learning how to be a dog and still needs to build confidence on leash. She recently did fantastic at her first public event where she let everyone pet her, including a young girl. She is shy at first but warms up quickly to people she knows.

Bio: Katrina took some time to open up once she arrived. She was brought in with several other dogs via ACO. Now when you approach her kennel, she wags her tail and bows down to play. She is still learning how to be a dog. She spends time in the outdoor kennels with other female dogs and has recently been used to test new intakes. She is a little scared when you first put a leash on but walks well once it is on. She would benefit from having other doggie friends in the home to help her build her confidence.

Fifi took several weeks to open up and show us her personality. What we know so far is she is wanting to play and be playful, but is not sure how to yet. She is still learning how to be a dog and she likes to spend time outside with Fido. Fifi walks well on leash, but needs a little coaxing.

Dolly came in as a stray and was treated for demodex. Her fur has grown back in and she is ready for her new home! She is playful and energetic. She is also very treat motivated. Dolly was dog friendly when she entered the shelter. She started displaying signs of kennel stress and became dog selective. She has been moved to the front of the shelter where she has a quiet area and she has improved tremendously. She is gaining her weight back and has done well interacting with dogs again. We are so excited for what comes next for this amazing girl! Dolly is not recommended for a cat home.

Jackson likely lived outside his entire life. While he looks healthy and not emaciated, we know he didn’t experience any love from humans before arriving at our shelter. He has probably had to fight for everything he did have while living in an outbuilding down the street from his guardian. Jackson is ready for a home of his own and to feel all the love he deserves.

Luke came in as a stray in April 2026. He went to a rescue but when things didn’t work out with the foster’s current dog, Luke was returned to the shelter in May. He is medium energy on leash and treat-motivated. He seems to be very intelligent and learned to sit immediately. Luke is low heartworm positive and will need heartworm treatment.

Rocky was found as a stray at the local peach stand where AC picked him up. He was covered in ticks when he arrived. So far, this gorgeous-coated boy has been calm and sweet. He knows how to sit on command. He did well on his walk with a female dog and wasn’t even really interested in her. During his dog test with a male, he had the same reaction…no real interest.

Loretta was picked up at a residence as a stray along with her five puppies. There was also another mother (June) and her 7 puppies at the same location. Puppies have gone to rescue, but sweet Loretta is still waiting. It’s her turn now. She walks well on leash, but is a bit strong. She is an aggressive cuddler in a good way :). She is very curious and knows how to sit on command. She takes treats gently and has the cutest mopey face and a good side eye. Loretta is obsessed with pets and seems like she would be a loyal companion.

Henry was brought in by a county resident and found as a stray. While he does not initially show well in his kennel, he is a sweetheart as soon as you step inside or take him out. Henry is sweet, playful, friendly, and seems to love toys. He picked up an empty water bottle on the side of the road and carried it with him for his walk. He also played with some sticks he found during his walk. Henry is treat motivated and loves walks! He walks pretty well on a lead.

At just 1.5 years old, Smokey has endured things no dog should. He was abandoned near someone’s house. When they began to feed him, he would eat but he wouldn’t come close. So far, he has been very scared in the shelter but once you get him out, he quickly warms up. He’s gentle and slow to move, but he has proven to be curious so far. He walks great on leash and checks in often. We think he’ll be a great dog with just a little patience as he warms up to his new environment. He has a gorgeous and soft grey (blue) coat and is the perfect size! He played well in the play yard with a dog named Fox- he zoomied around with Fox while taking correction well. He also enjoys spending time in a kennel outside with three other male dogs that are similar in size.

Katana is an owner surrender. Katana is sweet, friendly, and independent. She doesn’t need to be in your lap but she definitely appreciates being acknowledged. She needs a little work on her leash manners but she is very smart and will learn quickly.

Oakley was brought in via AC after receiving a call about stray dogs chasing cats. AC noted that he was healthy and friendly. He is playful and gentle when taking treats. He did well meeting both male and female dogs. Despite his large size, he is wonderful on leash. No pulling or dragging. He does have the tendency to want to herd you so he may feel the need to be glued to your legs. He is very affectionate and loves giving kisses. His brindle fur is absolutely stunning!

George was found wandering and emaciated. He was walking strangely on his back legs and was taken to the vet. He was diagnosed with Spondylosis which is a degenerative spinal condition. He was placed on prednisone. He also has a bacterial infection on his skin and was prescribed Cephlexin. His sad story does not end there. It was brought to our attention that George’s owner was murdered almost a year ago and he has been fending for himself ever since. George did well meeting male and female dogs. He does prefer more submissive, lower energy dogs and that is probably because of his condition. He has a sweet and friendly personality.

Edgar Allen came in via AC as a stray. He has the most unforgettable eyes! Just in the first few minutes of meeting Edgar and welcoming him into the shelter, he settled in quickly and was extremely friendly. He seems to be treat motivated and spunky. He takes treats gently.
